End of semester

As I mentioned in a previous blog, this year has not been good due to a medical problem that has complicated me. However, these weeks in which I got the license tried to catch up with the courses, but it has been complicated because in the courses that involve practice with instruments I could not because I can not do physical strength.
The good thing that happened is that, for the first time, my mother could travel to see me, which helped me a lot because I was in absolute rest for about two weeks and I thank her for coming to help me. In addition to this, with the difficulty I had, I found the need to look for other tools so as not to leave aside my instrument, which now bears fruit when I return to practice.
Now that the semester is over, the stress involved in the resumption of all activities is often difficult, but I know I will succeed in completing them, well, at least I hope so ... if so, I think it will be the great semester of achievement And it will help me motivate me to face the second half of the year.
As it is the last blog of this topic, I appreciate this space because here I could take note of several topics that involves us, I also thank colleagues who wrote interesting things, both references of records, references of musicians, etc.
I hope everyone successfully completes their semester and achieves to pass all their subjects.

Toothache

Hello everyone, today I'm going to talk about toothache, something that I think many have lived and know is a HORRIBLE situation. Since I was little I have had problems with my teeth, so I have spent much of my life at the dentist and it is not entertaining. At the beginning of going to the dentist so much, you want to become one, but after many years of going, you do not want to know more about them. My last experience was disastrous, I spent three days with unbearable pain and did not want to go to the dentist because my personal dentist is from my hometown and I did not know where to go. However, it was so painful that I had to search for google dentists and go to any of them. I remember that on a Wednesday I went to the first one and did not solve ANYTHING. The second was on Thursday and nothing! And the third, I had to see it at 3 in the morning! Because I could not stand the pain! Fortunately, this solved my problems, pulling my tooth out of the root! I suffered a little thinking that I had lost my tooth, but at least the pain was gone. This is my story, comment if you've gone through something similar.

Specialized elective

This year, for me, it has been quite irregular because I suffered a medical problem that prevented me from regularly attending all my classes. In spite of this, one of my classes that I liked most is a specialized elective class, on Alexander's technique, taught by Professor Nancy Vásquez. What teaches us to use our body consciously so that we can apply it to our instrument and have a better performance. In the classes, the teacher teaches us about the muscles and bones of the body, in addition to putting them into practice using our instruments to correct bad postures, along with this she taught us a resting position, in which we only rest and relax, This part is excellent because, although it is taught on Thursday mornings, these moments help to fill with energy during the rest of the day. I like this topic because it has helped me to become aware of my body and, therefore, I have been able to alleviate the pain and discomfort that prevented me from doing the job in an optimal and healthy way.

Paquito D’Rivera

One of the first clarinet players I heard was Paquito D'Rivera, who impressed me with his agility and versatility when he played. One of his first works that I heard was the Venezuelan waltz and the contradanza for clarinet and piano, from that moment I liked it so much that I started to investigate about his music, with time while I progressed in my clarinet studio I managed to play some of his works.
Born on June 4, 1948 in Havana, Cuba, Paquito D'Rivera began his studies at age 5, and at age 7 he was a saxophone prodigy and at 12 he began his clarinet and composition studies at the Conservatorio de la Havana. He has currently won 14 Grammy awards and one of them won it with the Irakere group, which was one of the great exponents of Latin jazz.
I still have not had the opportunity to see him play live, but I hope to see him next time I come to Chile, and hear him play my favorite works.
